12 Counties 14U Boys Report

The annual U14 12 Counties competition took place at Corby Indoor Tennis Centre on Sunday 22 March.

Northants were represented by Oscar, Elliott, Wiktor and Reuben.

The opposition were Bedfordshire and Essex with Notts withdrawing.

The outstanding player on the day was Oscar, playing at one, who won both matches without conceding a game and demonstrated how much he has developed since this competition last year. Elliott, playing two, had a pleasing win in his first match after losing the first set 5-4, fighting back to win the second set 4-2 and taking the Champs tiebreaker 10-4. Wiktor, at three playing opposition two years older showed great promise winning against his Bedfordshire opponent 4-0, 4-5 and 10-4 in the Champs tiebreaker. Reuben, again playing against older boys, put in a fine performance at four, beating the Bedfordshire opponent 4-2, 4-0. Elliot, Wiktor, and Reuben found their opponents from Essex too strong, but I am sure the experience will hold them in good stead in the future.

Overall a very enjoyable day with a fine 4-0 win against Bedfordshire a loss to a very strong Essex team 3-1.
