East Region Inter County Mini Red Girls Report

Sunday we took part in the Inter County Mini Red Team Event at Hills Road Cambridge. 10 counties compete over the day in two groups of 5 and then play off matches, so a lot of tennis for the girls.

The Northants girls team was made up of Grace, Connie, Olivia, Matilda, Esme and Charlotte. All making the county proud with their outstanding effort, competitiveness and team spirit in a hot and stuffy indoor tennis centre.

Our group consisted of, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxford and Cambs. We lost 4-2 against Berkshire with Charlotte and Olivia picking up wins. We lost 4-2 to Bucks with Grace and Matilda picking up wins. On to Oxford and the girls were improving by every match, this was a tightly contested draw with Olivia, Matilda and Esme picking up wins. Last in our group was a tough Cambridge team where our girls were competitive but they were just too strong.

With some closely fought matches we came 4th in our box and progressing through to play off for positions 5-8!

We first faced a strong Suffolk team, who managed to covert the bigger points than our girls and we lost that rubber 6-0!

It was then back to play Berkshire for 7/8 place, the girls gave it their all again but the outcome was the same 4-2 to Berks gaining us 8th place.

All the girls played some brilliant tennis and I look forward to seeing them playing in future county events
