East Region Inter County Mini Red Boys Report

On Sunday we took part in the Inter County Mini Red Team Event at Hills Road Cambridge.

10 counties compete over the day in two groups of 5 and then play off matches, so a lot of tennis for the boys.

The Northants boys team was made up of Freddie A, Clement, Leo, Alfie, Freddie M and Tiernan. All making the county proud with their outstanding effort, competitiveness and team spirit in a very hot and stuffy indoor tennis centre.

Our group consisted of, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and Cambridge.

We drew 3-3 against Berkshire and 3-3 with Bedfordshire. After that we had 2 very tough matches with Essex and Cambridge, where we battled hard but only picked up 1 rubber in each match.

With some closely fought matches we came 4th in our box and progressing through to play off for positions 5-8!

We first faced a strong Suffolk team, where we were 2-2 going into the last 2 matches but sadly lost them tight, 10-8 and 10-7.

It was then to play Oxford for 7/8 place, the boys were amazing after an exhausting day and we won it on point 47-42 to finish 7th.

All the boys played some incredible tennis and a pleasure to captain.
