12 Counties 14U Girls Report

Northants Team: Mya, Lois, Emma, Maely

Counties: Berkshire, Herefordshire & Worcestershire and Leicestershire

The first event of the year for our 14U County team with 3 out of the 4 girls making their debut at 14U level.

The girls first match up was against an older Berkshire team, Maely played at 4 gave a good battle to take her opponent to a third set match tie break losing 4-0 5-3 10-1. Mya played at 1 lost 4-0 4-0, Lois played at 2 lost 4-1 4-0 and Emma played at 3 lost 4-0 4-1. All girls gave a great battle in their matches, was a good standard of awareness for all the players too, overall score was 4-0 to Berkshire.

Second up we played Hereford & Worcester, with some goals set all the girls were ready for round two and put on some great performances and our closest matches of the day. Mya almost outworked her opponent at 1, losing 2-4 4-2 10-7, Lois worked hard at 2 losing 4-1 4-1, Emma fought back hard after losing the first set to out rally her opponent and just losing out in a match tie break, 2-4 4-1 10-6, Maely at number 4 managed to secure us our first win in a very close match tie break after losing the first set 4-0, Maely managed to work out her opponent and gain some consistency winning 0-4 4-2 10-7.

Overall, we lost 3-1 to Herefordshire & Worcestershire.

Lastly, we played our neighbouring county Leicestershire, Mya lost 4-2 4-0, Lois played her match of the day in performance and had a narrow lost 4-0 5-3, Emma had a really solid match at number 3 and got a well-deserved win 4-1 4-2, last on court of the day was Maely who put up a very good fight but just had narrow loss 4-1 5-4.

Overall, we lost 3-1 to Leicestershire.

Was a pleasure to be working with these girls, some for the first time, their work ethic, sportsmanship and support for one another was exceptional, creating a lovely team atmosphere.

Look forward to working with them further in training and working towards summer county cup.
